In February 2002, the customers of Humboldt Utilities began an innovative program to help provide funds for needy families and children in our community.
This program is called Round Up-Plus, and every Humboldt Utilities customer has the opportunity to participate!
How does it work? Your utility bill each month will be “rounded up” to the next highest dollar amount. For example, if your monthly bill is $52.71, it would be rounded up to $53.00. These extra cents Plus one dollar would be that month’s contribution to the Round Up-Plus fund. All contributions to this fund are used to help those in our community who need assistance with food, clothing, shelter, utilities, medicine, and other special needs. By participating in this program, you would contribute an average of $1.50 per month – a small amount, but a tremendous boost to those who need help.
The money collected through Round Up-Plus is distributed through Helping Hand of Humboldt, Inc., an organization supervised by an eight member board made up of local ministers, business people, civic leaders, and other citizens who genuinely care about people and their needs.
You can discontinue participation any time later by notifying Humboldt Utilities. Contributions to Round Up-Plus are tax deductible, and you will receive a summary of your annual contribution on your January – February bills.
If all Humboldt Utilities customers participated in the program, approximately $ 80,000 would be available each year to help those families and children who are struggling with the basic necessities of life.
In 2021 customers who participated in the Round Up-Plus program gave a total of $22,025.39 to Round Up-Plus.
If you don’t presently give to the Round Up-Plus program, but would like to participate, contact us or print and complete the attached sign-up form and return it to Humboldt Utilities.
